Free software available for all VBCPS students

More than 68,000 students will have free software thanks to a new program from Microsoft, the software development corporation. Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) is taking advantage of this initiative, which will provide every student in the school division access to the Office 365 suite at no charge.

This means students now have free access to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, and can upload those programs to up to five devices, including computers as well as iPads and tablets.

The Office 365 subscription lasts for as long as the child is a student in VBCPS, and participants will receive automatic software updates to keep the programs running at peak efficiency.

In addition, Microsoft Office for mobile devices is available for iPad, iPhone, Android and Windows Phone. It consists of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. These apps can be downloaded for free from their respective app stores. Once they are installed users will be prompted to login with the student network account to verify the child as a VBCPS student.
